We celebrated my son’s birthday over the weekend

We celebrated my son’s birthday over the weekend! 🎉 This year was much easier to prepare compared to last year since my husband was home to help. 😊 There were no major fights with my slightly-more-grown-up son either, which was a nice bonus. 😆 The only “complaint” I got was about the giant popcorn balloon 🍿 and the one that said Movie Night—he called them “embarrassing”! 😂 But overall, the party went smoothly. He even helped clean up without a word! It really felt like he’s growing up. 💕

We set up a projector in the backyard and played a movie on an outdoor screen (just a cloth, really). From inside the house, through the glass door, you could see the movie projected in reverse—and our cat was watching it seriously from the other side! It was so adorable. 🤣

週末に息子の誕生会をやりました。今年は夫が在宅だったので、準備は去年と比べたらグッと楽で、去年よりほんのちょっと成長した息子と大喧嘩することもなく😆ただ、私が用意したポップコーン🍿の大きな風船とmovie nightと書かれた風船にたいして、「恥ずかしい！」と一言文句を言われたくらい😂で無事パーティー🎉は終わりました。後片付けも黙ってさっさとやってたし、息子の成長を感じましたね。
バックヤードに設置したプロジェクターで外のスクリーン(布)に映し出された映画が家の中からガラス戸を通して透けて見えていて、真剣に同じ映画を反対側から見ているうちの猫の姿が可愛かったです🤣

昨日の夜は楽しみにしていたBlack and Gold gala。実は、この日のためにオンラインで買ったドレス、届いて着てみたら、太ってしまった為パンパンで、後ろのジッパーが閉まりませんでした（涙）諦めて、もう違うドレスを着るしかないかと悩んでいたところ、仲良しのお友達がお洋服のalterationサービスをビジネスとして始めようとしていることを思い出し相談！
なんと、私がお客様第一号として、とっても難しい案件を持ち込んでしまいました。大きいものを小さくするのは楽でも、小さいものを大きくするのって、本当に技術が必要です😅でも、お見事、友達は私のドレスのサイズ変更をして、可愛くリメイクまでしてくれました！まだ、本格的にサービス開始はしていないのですが、興味のある方、サイズのお直しが必要な方、彼女をご紹介しますので私にご連絡ください！とーーーっても丁寧で親切なお仕事をしてくれます。
おかげで無事、気に入ったドレスでGalaに参加できた私は、たくさんのステージ上のエンターテインメントをエンジョイして、楽しく美味しい夜を過ごすことができました。

Last night was the Black and Gold Gala I’d been looking forward to! But when I tried on the dress I bought online just for the event, I found it was way too tight after gaining a little weight recently, and I couldn’t zip it up at all 😭. I was ready to give up and wear a different dress, but then I remembered my close friend who’s just starting her clothing alteration business! I reached out, and she took on my challenging case as her very first client. Making something smaller is one thing, but making it larger? That takes serious skill. And she did an amazing job, not only resizing my dress but also adding a cute, custom touch!🩷 She’s not officially open for business yet, but if anyone’s interested in an alteration or needs a size adjustment, let me know! I’d be happy to connect you with her. Her work is so detailed, professional, and kind.

Thanks to her, I was able to attend the Gala in my favorite dress, enjoying an evening full of entertainment, good food, and fun!

The night before HOCO, my son suddenly decided he wanted a wrist corsage and boutonniere. He’d just forgotten about it! Last year, I was made to buy them online, so I wondered if he’d skip it this year—but he’s got a different date, haha. Besides, he’d only get annoyed if I got involved, so I left it alone.

Even Amazon Same-Day didn’t have ready-made sets… but they did have a DIY kit, so I took a gamble and ordered it.

Yesterday, the flowers and leaves arrived in the afternoon—no tools or wristband for the corsage though! So, I improvised with things around the house and somehow managed to get it done in time. Without wire cutters, I ended up using toenail clippers (yes, really!). I hadn’t done this in ages, so I accidentally burned myself pretty badly with the hot glue gun and now have a blister on my thumb (ouch!).

Dropped him off, and a few hours after HOCO started, the rest of the tools finally got delivered (lol).

P.S. My son gave me permission to post this, as long as there’s no face in the photos, so you’re safe to enjoy the pictures, haha! 😆

HOCOの前日の夜になって突然リストコサージュとブートニアがほしいと言い出した息子。単に忘れてたんだと！去年もオンラインで買わされたので今年はいいのかな？とは思っていたけど、相手は違うし（笑）放っておいた。
さすがのAmazon様のSame Dayにも出来合いのセットはない、、、ただ、コサージュとブートニアを手作りするキットはSame Dayにあったので、一か八かでポチってみた。
そして昨日、日中に着いたのは花と葉っぱだけ。作るためのツール類や既成のブレスレットは届かない。仕方ないので、家にあるもので工夫して、なんとか時間までに作った。ワイヤーカッターもなかったので足の爪切りを使ったのよ🤣久しぶりにそんなことしたので、グルーガンで思い切り火傷をして、親指にみずぶくれまでできた🥲
息子をドロップしてHOCOが無事始まって数時間後、ツール類がデリバリーされた😂

今日は、私が家に篭っている間に過ぎてしまった私のお誕生日のお祝いを、お友達がしてくれました。久しぶりに会うお友達との会話で、明日への活力が湧いてきました。まだ色々と不自由が多く、気軽にどこへでも行ける状態にはなっていないのですが、少しずつ社会復帰ができていて嬉しいです。もっとリハビリを日々頑張りたいと思います。
そうそう、フィラデルフィアのトレジョから空輸された人気のミニトートをいただけるサプライズもありました！🩷大切に使わせていただきます。

My friends celebrated my birthday today, which passed while I was recovering at home. Catching up with them after such a long time gave me energy and motivation for tomorrow. While I still have a lot of limitations and can’t go out freely just yet, I’m happy to be slowly getting back into the swing of things. I’m determined to work harder on my rehab every day. Oh, and I got a surprise gift—a popular mini tote 🩷 flown in from Trader Joe’s in Philadelphia!

After being cooped up since mid-August, I finally drove myself for the first time in almost a month and a half to have lunch at a friend’s house. The vibrant shiso juice, the pumpkin soup—everything was delicious and left me in awe. But more than anything, being able to catch up and chat with my friends after so long made me feel alive again!

8月の中旬からず〜っと引きこもっていたのですが、今週の頭に、ほぼ1ヵ月半ぶりに自分で運転して、お友達のお家にランチにお呼ばれに行ってきました。綺麗な色のしそジュース、パンプキンスープ、どれも美味しくて感動。そして何より久しぶりにお友達に会えてお喋りできたことで、生き返った気分でした！

My first Waymo ride! They’re all over San Francisco now—driverless cars! Waymo sees not just other cars, but even people walking! It’s hilarious seeing the steering wheel move on its own in an empty seat. For lunch, I had a lobster roll at Luke’s Lobster! I went for the sampler with three seafoods. So delicious! I had a blast and can’t wait to ride Waymo again! Bye!

すごいの、周りの車だけじゃなくて歩いてる通行人も全部見えているの、壁に持たれて立ってる人とかも。
空っぽの席でハンドルだけ動いてるの、ウケる。
ランチはLuke's Lobsterでロブスターロールをいただきました！私のは欲張りな3つのシーフードが楽しめるサンプラー！美味しゅうございました。

昨日は、待ちに待ったiPhone16 pro maxをゲットしてきました！近いのに実は一度も行ったことのなかったアップル本社のビジターセンターにてテンション上がります。もちろんみなさん15分刻みの細かい予約はあったけど、それでも大混雑、土曜日なのもあってか、並ぶ並ぶ。今回は、メジャー3キャリアのプランにすればトレードイン価格が跳ね上がるということで、なんと1000ドルで私のiPhone14 pro maxを引き取っていただきました！店内で弱々のWifiを使って、無事新しいiPhoneへの設定リストアも終わり、アプリのインストールやデータのトランスファーは流石に待ってられないので、家のネット使おうと、とっとと帰りました。帰りにファイブガイズでバーガーランチを3人分買って65ドルだったのには驚愕。シリコンバレーではハンバーガーも安くないですね！

Yesterday, I finally got my hands on the long-awaited iPhone 16 Pro Max! I went to the Apple Visitor Center, which, despite being so close, I had never visited before, and the excitement was real. Of course, there were reservations every 15 minutes, but it was still super crowded—probably because it was Saturday, and the lines were long. This time, by opting for one of the major carrier plans, the trade-in value for my iPhone 14 Pro Max shot up, and I got $1,000 for it! I used the store’s weak Wi-Fi to restore settings on my new iPhone, but for the app installs and data transfers, I couldn’t wait, so I decided to do it at home using my own internet. On the way back, I grabbed burgers from Five Guys for the three of us, and it came to $65—shockingly expensive! Silicon Valley sure isn’t cheap, even for burgers!

ちょっとした手術をして、現在家にこもって、隠遁生活を送ってます。食事を作ったりも運転もまだできないので、お友達がお買い物に行って届けてくれたり、食べ物を持ってきてくれたりして、私は良いお友達に恵まれて、本当にありがたいとしみじみ感じています。元気になったらいっぱいご恩返しをしなくては。
時間だけはあるので、最近いろいろ将来のことに思いを巡らせています。私の第二、第三の人生？！では、何か人を笑顔にするようなことを、生涯やっていきたいな〜🩷

I recently had a particular surgery and am currently living a reclusive life at home. I’m not yet able to cook or drive, so my friends have been doing the shopping and bringing me food. I’m truly grateful for being blessed with such wonderful friends. I can’t wait to repay their kindness once I’m back on my feet!
With plenty of time on my hands, I’ve been reflecting a lot on the future. In my second and third acts of life, I hope to dedicate myself to doing something that brings smiles to others’ faces.🥰

Bento fail?!
My son needed a lunch box to volunteer this week. I made a BLTAC sandwich (BLT with cheese and avocado), strawberries, and a chocolate cream puff from Paris Baguette that I specially bought for him. Personally, I think it’s a great lunchbox, but to my surprise, he brought the strawberries and the chocolate cream puff back home without eating them! So frustrating!

今週はボランティアで毎日弁当🍱持参の息子。BLTACサンドイッチ？（笑） BLTにチーズとアボカドも入れたサンドイッチと、イチゴと、パリスバゲットでわざわざ買ってきて入れてあげたチョコレートシュークリーム。私からしたら素敵なお弁当だと思うんだけど、なんと、イチゴとチョコレートシュークリームを残して帰ってきたの！プンプン！

ある平日の六本木の夜🌉バブル時代に一世を風靡したマハラジャへ行ってきた。この日は懐かしの80’s ディスコがテーマ。場所も変わってたし、狭くなってたし、当時とは華やかさも違うし、残念ながら「ふてほど」に出ていた錦戸亮のような黒服もいない🤣でも、なによりも違ってたのが客層❗️おじさんとおばさんしかいない🤣🤣🤣お前が言うなとツッコミが入りそうだけど、本当に見事に年齢層が高い。でも、みーーーんなすっごく楽しそうで、懐かしい曲が次々とかかって、私のリクエストした曲もかかったし、結構楽しめた🥰帰りは叙々苑で焼肉。プチバブリーナイトを満喫した夜でした。

Went to the iconic Maharaja which was 80s disco themed that night. The place has changed a lot, it's smaller now, and it's not as glamorous as it used to be, and unfortunately, there weren't any handsome waiters in black suits like the one錦戸亮 played in "不適切にもほどがある"

But the biggest difference was the crowd❗️ It was full of old people. I know I shouldn't be talking, but it was really an older crowd. But everyone was having a great time, and they played all kinds of nostalgic songs, even one that I requested, so I actually had a lot of fun😆
After that we went to 叙々苑 for Yakiniku. I enjoyed mini-Bubble Era night,
